Breaking Out Of This House

William is 4 weeks old today.  I sent out "William is 1 month old" text messages to family and uploaded pics to facebook, only to realize that he's not actually a month old until Saturday, the 28th.  Whoops! I can already see a "Mommy of the Year" in my future. ;)

It seems that I have many of these moments lately. The other day my mom came over to see us, and when she walked in the door she immediately said, "What's that smell?  I smell gas. You have a gas leak."  I nonchalantly informed her that I thought I had smelled something earlier, but couldn't pin point anything so I just assumed it was nothing.  (Anyone who knows me, knows that I have ZERO sense of smell.  I've never been able to smell odors.)  My mom frantically went straight to the kitchen to find the gas stove eye on low.  She turned it off and asked how long it had been on.  I lowered my head when I had to tell her that I guess I had forgotten to turn it off when I cooked dinner the NIGHT BEFORE!

Even though I've had a few "OMG" moments, I really feel that I'm finally getting into a routine with William.  I'm starting to finally get the hang of this mommy thing. ;)  I'm starting to understand his cries a little and have figured out a few things that he really likes that help him when he gets really fussy.  I've learned to do many tasks only using one hand.  William is normally in my other arm, and I like it that way.  As a school teacher, I'm used to scarfing down my lunch because we are limited on time in the lunchroom with our students.  This skill has come in handy now that I'm a Mommy!  I eat my breakfast, lunch and dinner quickly so that I can tend to Will. Mylicon, pacifier and a burp cloths can be found in all the rooms of our house now as well.  Some days I'm amazed and amused at how different I am now that William is here.

William and I are really looking forward to these next couple of weeks.  Since Will is 1 month old, I can now take him with me to run errands!  YAY!  Mommy and William can finally get out of the house!

Look for us around town this upcoming week!

Mother's Day and One Year Anniversary

(Just an FYI: I feel like I should start off all my blogs with, "I think I have about 30 minutes before William wakes up...)  This blog is exactly one week late, but better late than never!

The Tuckers

The Tuckers spent Mother's Day visiting family.  It was such a special day.  When we all woke up (or maybe I should say when William woke up, we all woke up) we got ready and headed down to MawMaw and PawPaw's house for lunch!   There we stuffed our faces, opened gifts, and took some pictures.  We did miss one important mom at lunch...my sister Jennifer.  She was so sick on Mother's Day and didn't get to celebrate with us.  We definitely missed her and her sweet boys!

After lunch, we traveled to Dustin's Grandmother's house. William was introduced to his Great Aunt Lynn and Great Aunt Barbara.  He also met his cousins Chris, Jaime, Laney, and Dawson.  We all had a good laugh when I tried to show off my diaper changing skills and William pee'd all over me and Gramsie (Sharon)!

After the events of the day, I was exhausted!  It was our first "outing" as a family, and it really wore me out. Needless to say, once we were home, a nap for all 4 of the Tuckers took place.

And that was our day....

It is a beautiful memory I will always cherish.  Not many people get to celebrate their first anniversary and their first Mother's Day on the same day!  :)

OH and how could I forget, William surprised me with a Mother's Day present too!  I now have a trendy watch that I love.

All we need is Jennifer and her sweet boys! Next time sis...Hope you're feeling better!
Love you!

Correction To Blog Posting

I must really be more sleep deprived than I thought...

In my last blog I posted that I was induced in 2008 and that William was born in 2008... Obviously, I'm a little out of it.  :)

William was born on April 28, 2011!

I guess I just had a "little out of it moment"!

William "Tucknado" Tucker

I think I only have about 30 mins before my little one wakes up, so I wanted to try to get a quick post in.  I never knew just how busy I would be with a newborn!

What an entrance our baby made to this world!  We were induced on the evening that the tornadoes came through downtown Birmingham (April 27, 2008), and William was born on Thursday, April 28, 2008 at 2:40 pm.  To make things more interesting, the day we brought William home, Bin Ladin was killed.  Between monster tornadoes, Taliban, and the arrival of William, the weekend was full of excitement to say the least!

Our baby is home, healthy, and we are loving this new life we have.

A few of Dustin's few gave William his little nickname of "Tucknado".

I promise to post more blogs soon.  I already have several stories I can't wait to share! I'm still trying to find my groove with everything.  Everyday is different with this little fella!

Until my next free moment, enjoy  these photos!
