From Guestroom to Nursery

I've been working really hard over the holiday break to prep the guest room for it's change to the nursery.  I became obsessed with looking at baby bedding online and color schemes and the list goes on and on...

Yesterday, we finally completed the prepping of the room by clearing it out!  This empty room will soon be filled with Will's furniture, clothes, and toys!  Will's furniture was also delieverd yesterday too.  It's still in boxes, but I'm anxiously awaiting the day when Dustin and I will tackle putting it all together.  I've also finally managed to decide on a wall color and bedding too.  Those were the hardest choices for me. The painter will begin working on the room Monday morning bright and early! Once the painting is done, then I think we'll start putting the furniture together.

There are days when I feel like I may be rushing or "jumping the gun", but I keep thinking that I feel pretty good these days, and I know that these "feeling pretty good" days won't last forever.  I just want to get as much done now while I feel good and can enjoy it.  Besides, I'm a planner and would much rather tackle a project early on than wait and procrastinate on it.

Here's a preview of all the ideas I've put together!  I will post pictures of the changer and the crib as soon as we have it together!

This is the bedding I've chosen.  It's a simple choccolate
brown gingham pattern.

Guest room soon to be nursery!  It's all clear!
The curtains will be coming down too.

I'm going to have this piece painted white, and then will probably
stencil a design on it and change the knobs.

This is not the crib!  This is the wall color I've chosen, it's paired
with the bedding I've chosen.  The color is "heather blue".

William's closet is already filling up! :)

Christmas Memories 2010

Let's just say it was a Tiffany kind of Christmas...

This was our first married Christmas, and it was perfect!  I cooked a Christmas Eve lunch for Dustin and I, and then we exchanged gifts.  Once again, I was totally out gifted.  He always spoils me! I received a new Tiffany "Love" charm and a Tiffany pen and pencil set.  It's gorgeous, and I'm scared to use them!  I will always remember our first Christmas whenever I decide to pull them out and use them.

Hope you can see the "LOVE" charm

Our first married Christmas!

This was Christmas Eve at Mom and Dad's house.  Alex was cracking us up!

Christmas morning it snowed!  It was beautiful and added that perfect touch to an already perfect Christmas.  Unfortunately the snowed kept some of our family away, and we missed them!  We hope to get to see them all very soon.

Once again, William racked up some absolute precious gifts.  He now has his first tailgating chair!

Dustin cracked me up playing in the snow with my nephews.  They made snowmen (some inappropriate, but funny), and they really took full advantage of our white Christmas.

Dustin helping Tanner and Reid build their snowman

My Tanner is getting so big!  He loved playing in the snow!

Chad and Alex built a little snowman in the background.  Those two crack me up!

Later Christmas night, we headed to Anniston for our Christmas get together with friends!  I was so excited to get to see my girlfriends!  It had really been too long.  My best friend Lacey gave William one of the most precious giftsHe received the Tiffany football coin bank!  I can't wait to display this in his nursery.

The picture doesn't even do it justice!  It's so adorable!  Thank you Laceydoo!
William is going to love it!

This was a perfect "first married Christmas"!
I had to buy this for Will!

This is the BEST Christmas Ever...and It's Not Even Christmas Yet!

Tuesday night was spent with family reminiscing on memories and also making new ones.  Dustin and I joined the rest of the Tuckers for some Christmas feasting and PRESENTS!  :)  Sharon (aka Mama Tuck and soon to be Gmom) made a fabulous spread.  She fried chicken and made her famous homemade mac-n-cheese, along with a bunch of other dishes as well.  The chicken was divine.  I've yet to master the art of frying chicken, but hopefully that will come with time. (Notice how much I'm talking about the food....that's because my appetite is out of control and that meal was SO good!)

We also had fun opening presents...  I got some new pajamas (which I wore ALL day yesterday), a journal to write to William each day (very special gift), a Christmas ornament (new mother-to-be), some cash (which I'm going to spend shortly on some new lamps for the bedroom),  and a new, mother of all, COACH purse.  It's beautiful, big and exactly what I wanted.

William also got a few items for Christmas too!  He got his first stuffed teddy bear (so adorable), and several adorable outfits!

So, I woke up this morning to an email from my wonderful MIL and DIL (Mama Tuck and Big Mike).  They had ordered the crib and changer that Dustin and I liked!!  It will be delivered on December 28th.  I'm so grateful for this help and gift!  I will create another post soon with a picture of the furniture and some of the ideas I have for the nursery.

I know that Christmas is not about presents, it's about CHRIST!  The Lord has blessed Dustin and I beyond belief.  We are having the best time being married and now awaiting the arrival of little Will.  I am so thankful for our families that support us.  We can't say thank you enough!

Merry Christmas!

20 Week Update

I had a little moment yesterday when I realized that I was 20 weeks.  I did the math calculation and realized I'm 5 months pregnant and on the the down-hill slope to meeting William!  I only have 4 months left to experience all the neat changes that pregnancy brings.  I look at it as bitter sweet.

Each week of my pregnancy, I've been sending emails out to family and friends with updates about the pregnancy.  This week I'm proud to update and say, "IT'S A BOY!!!"  Dustin and I got to see our precious baby boy last Thursday.  He's grown soooo much since the last ultra sound we had.  It's honestly the most amazing thing I've seen or experienced.  He was being a little shy with camera. He was facing backwards and curled up in the fetal position.  The sonographer had to keep putting pressure on my belly trying to get him to turn around.  He finally did!  He kicked his little legs out and then we knew, he was a boy!

You can see here one of his legs is still bent back.  The other leg is there, but it just didnt show up in the picture.

We've chosent the name William Michael Tucker.  William is a name we both liked, and it's my maiden name.  Michael is Dustin's middle name and also his father's name.  We will call him Will, but eventually I'm sure all his little buddies will know him by, Tucker or Tuck!

Now I can finally start planning a nursery and all that fun stuff!  Read below to see what's happening with Baby Will this week.

Merry Christmas!
Julie

How your baby's growing:

Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. He's also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana. (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby's legs are curled up against his torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of his head to his bottom — the "crown to rump" measurement. After 20 weeks, he's measured from head to toe.)
He's swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He's also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you'll see it in his first soiled diaper (some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery).

Boy or Girl....does it really matter???

When I first found out I was pregnant and people would ask, "Do you want a boy or girl?", I would always respond, "I just want a healthy baby."  This was the total truth....sorta :)  I deep down really did want a healthy baby, and I wanted that healthy baby to be a little girl.  However, the more I thought about it, the more I convinced myself that baby was a boy.  Both of my sisters had boys first, and I'm carrying my weight in my stomach really low so in my my mind, I felt like Baby Tucker was a boy.  I have to admit, the more convincing I did, the more excited I became that I might have a little boy.  The past month, I've caught myself watching my sisters and their little boys interact.  I fell in love with the idea of having a little boy of my own.

I've asked Dustin several times (okay, okay... a lot of times) what he wanted.  He always responded, "It doesn't matter." I believe that to be the truth.  One of the little moments that I will never forget is seeing Dustin's face the day we had our first ultra sound.  He smiled and kept saying, "Wow" over and over.  All of the things that I had been feeling for 6 weeks, suddenly became very real to him.  I know that he's going to be the BEST father, regardless of boy of girl.  Our baby is so lucky to have a daddy like him.

It's 10:44 on Thursday morning, December 16, 2010.  Today is the day we will find out if our baby is a boy or girl.  I can honestly say at this point, boy or girl...it DOESN'T really matter.  My mom and dad used to always tell me, "you'll always be my baby."  Baby Tucker will always be our baby, regardless of boy or girl.

I love this day =)

Instead of Newsletters.....BLOGS!

After reading blogs posted by several friends and family members, I too wanted to jump right into the blog world!  There was a time when I sent out newsletters to keep friends informed and updated.  I loved the process of the newsletter, but let's face it...it was tedious and took me forever to design them, print them, and then mail them.  A blog is much easier, faster, and instyle ;)

I hope you will follow my blog entries and enjoy reading them.  I plan to share the "little moments" of my life that mean so much to me.

You can definitely expect a posting tomorrow when Dustin and I find out the sex of our baby!  Until then...

Enjoy the little moments of your life!
